My name is Dylan Byrd and I am in flight.

As BYRDINFLIGHT I seek opportunities to provide a unique perspective, paired with skilled craftmanship and a disciplined work ethic to exciting projects across all major visual communications platforms. In 2007, I graduated from The Art Institute of Washington with a BFA in Media Arts & Animation. Shortly after graduating, and after two years in a studio environment, I decided to venture out on my own. My commercial work mainly consists of digital or hand-drawn illustration and Flash based animation, some examples of which, you'll find on this site. I also have a very strong passion for the storytelling process. I'm always on the look out for opportunities to put that passion into practice, whether storyboarding, concept art or participating in the actual production.

As an artist I have been a life long benefactor of a healthy combination of nature and nurturing. I come from a family of artists of various disciplines and as a young child, my mom drew with me on a regular basis. The drive to manipulate various mediums and apply them to a wide range of canvases for any reason or no reason, has been constant throughout my life. My passion simply lies with constructing a visual message to effectively communicate and evoke an emotional response.

As an individual I have experienced a host of exciting changes in the past few months. I recently married my lovely wife Abigail J. Byrd. We've also had the great pleasure of moving into a spacious row house in Old Town Alexandria – a portion of which, has been converted to a sanctuary where I can behave professionally, think, play the Ukulele (badly) and explore concepts. To get around town, I select from a variety of methods of transportation – long board, skateboard, BMX bike and mountain bike are top choice. I also enjoy snowboarding during the colder months, and will soon have my custom built surfboard to play with as well. During the weekend, I make a point to spend time with the family and attend our amazing church, NCC.
