New Hire at Belmont, Inc.

Been a while since I've posted anything, but I just finished up this portrait tonight of the most recent hire at Belmont, Inc. and I wanted to share.

Congratulations on your new gig, Lara. I don't know you, but it was a pleasure drawing you.

Letter "k" type study

If I was forced to battle to the death, and had to chose a single cast iron, 2,592 pt. character from the English alphabet as my weapon, I would choose the letter "k". Grab hold of that ascender and wield like Braveheart.

Thanks to Ryan Portnoy and Seth Nickerson for ganging up on me about this one. Without you guys I'd still be stuck on Caps Lock... Yes that was cheesy, but totally appropriate.

C&C Type Factory

The letter "C" is one of the quickest characters to write. It's similar to an "O" but you get to be lazy and not worry about closing it. I found it a bit more challenging to explore concepts of what I consider to be one of the less interesting characters. However, I thoroughly enjoyed my time spent discovering new and relatively exciting ways to dress up this gestural swipe, and through the process gained new appreciation for it's simplicity.

I was planning on sticking with all uppercase first, but with an overwhelming two (2) consecutive votes from a couple of my loyal fans, I have decided to diverge and work on the letter "k" for the next round.
